As Abia State celebrates its 35th anniversary since creation on 27th August 1991, the Abia North Youths in Diaspora, a global youth body for the Senatorial Zone, has joined in the commemoration by paying tribute to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, describing him as the architect and father of modern Abia State.
In a statement released by the diaspora group, led by its Global President, Mazi Nnanna Okoro Ibe, the body underscored the pivotal role Senator Kalu has played in transforming the state from its early years into a modern entity, laying the enduring foundation for the state’s development.
Mazi Ibe, speaking on behalf of the diaspora youth organisation, praised Senator Kalu’s developmental contributions and consistent commitment to Abia North, noting that his initiatives have shaped the identity and progress of the state.
“As we celebrate Abia at 35, we, the youths of Abia North in the diaspora, recognise and honour Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the father of modern Abia. His visionary leadership, from his days as governor through his current tenure as a ranking senator, has fundamentally transformed our state,” Mazi Nnanna stated.
The diaspora group highlighted that Senator Kalu’s developmental projects, infrastructure investments, and human capital initiatives have positioned Abia State as a model for development in the Southeast region.
According to the diaspora youth, Senator Kalu’s continued investment in community development, scholarship programmes for the youths, women empowerment, and infrastructure projects demonstrates that his commitment to Abia’s progress extends beyond his official tenure and reflects a genuine love for the state.
The group emphasised that their acknowledgment comes from young people of the Senatorial Zone scattered across the world who maintain connection to their homeland and appreciate the development initiatives that have transformed their communities.
“Senator Kalu represents the template of what true leadership should be; consistent, results-oriented, and genuinely invested in the welfare of the people. As youths in diaspora, we take pride in our home state because of what he has built and continues to build,” the statement concluded.
