Wike Under Fire As Sowore Alleges Three Florida Properties In Wife’s Name

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike comes under heavy attack following fresh allegations that three properties in Florida, United States, suspected to be proceeds of corruption are registered under his wife’s name.

Omoyele Sowore, 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), made the allegations against the former Rivers State Governor, claiming the properties were purchased with stolen public funds.

According to Sowore’s post on his verified Facebook page monitored by PrimeTell, the three properties located in Winter Springs, Florida, are registered in the name of Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, who serves as a Court of Appeal judge in Nigeria.

The activist alleged that the properties have been distributed among Wike’s children and suggested there may be additional undiscovered assets.

“It turns out that international thief Nyesom Wike has three different properties in Winter Springs, Florida. All of them were hidden under the name of his wife, Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, who also serves as a Court of Appeal judge in Nigeria, and shared out to his children,” Sowore wrote.

“There may be even more properties, but we are making progress. We have already contacted the Office of the Attorney General of Florida, James Uthmeier to notify them that Nyesom Ezenwo Wike – CON, GSSRS has laundered stolen funds (proceeds of crime) to purchase and traffic properties in their state, which are first-class felonies.”

Sowore claimed he has petitioned Florida’s Attorney General, James Uthmeier to report the alleged money laundering activities, describing property trafficking as a first-class felony under Florida law.

The allegations have sparked reactions on social media, with some users lamenting the growing corruption in Nigeria, and others questioning how a judge’s salary could afford such overseas properties.

A Facebook user, Hungbeme Moses Wenayon commented: “What! Wike must rot in jail. Public funds wasted abroad because of selfishness and greediness. It’s not a crime to call a thief a thief. Nigerians are suffering from minimum wage, Wike is buying houses for his family abroad.”

Another user, Ettu Mohammed, asked: “How much is the salary of the judge which will afford her the luxury of buying a property in the US?”

Neither Minister Wike nor his aides have responded to the allegations at the time of this report.

The FCT Minister has previously faced corruption allegations during his tenure as Rivers State governor, though he has consistently denied wrongdoing.
