Kano State’s fight against the rising cases of mobile phone snatching in the state has reached a significant milestone with 380 anti-phone theft youth marshalls completing their training programme.
The recruits concluded their paramilitary exercises on Sunday at the Kano State Institute of Corporate Security, marking the end of a two-week intensive course organised by the state government under the supervision of the Ministry of Internal Security.
The newly trained anti-phone snatching operatives marched out of the training facility with heightened morale following their rigorous preparation for deployment across the state.
Captain Mohamed Bello, Commandant of the institute, addressed the marshals on core values and conduct ahead of their official passing-out parade.
Training officials revealed that the recruits underwent demanding sessions covering physical fitness, close-quarter combat techniques and surveillance operations to equip them for field duties.
The initiative, launched by the Kano State Government, targets phone snatching and associated criminal activities plaguing cities and communities across the state.
Governor Abba Yusuf and the supervising Commissioner, retired Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umaru, received commendations for ensuring adequate welfare provisions for the trainees throughout their training period.
The deployment of these marshals represents the state government’s determination to address the growing menace of phone theft affecting residents.
