Owerri Club, the premier sports and recreation facility in South East Nigeria, has elected a new executive council to pilot its affairs.
In a transparent electoral process conducted by an Electoral Committee headed by Akajiugo Chidi Anyaso, Ezinwa Onyebuchi Obinwa emerged as the new Chairman.

The newly elected executive members are:
1. Ezinwa Onyebuchi Obinwa – Chairman
2. Chief Okey Dike – Vice Chairman
3. Ik Ogbonna – Secretary
4. Obinna Ibeh – Assistant Secretary
5. Chief Emma Ebili – Grill Secretary
6. Dr Jude Ohanele – Maintenance Secretary
7. Dr Francis Nnolim – Ordinary Member
8. Dr Shah Azu Okorie – Treasurer
The elected officials were immediately sworn in by a Chief Magistrate and notary public.

During the handover ceremony, outgoing Chairman Sir Bon Unachukwu urged the new management team to sustain the development trajectory established during his tenure.
In his acceptance speech, Obinwa expressed gratitude to club members for entrusting him and his executive council with the leadership of the prestigious institution.
“I appreciate members of the club for finding me and my exco worthy of leading the club. I assure you that the club is in safe hands and will surely attain new heights under our watch,” the new Chairman said.
The election marks a new chapter for Owerri Club, which has remained a prominent social and recreational hub in the South East region.
