Amid Donald Trump’s Threat of Military Strike, Air Force Chief Orders Smarter Strikes Against Insurgents

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has directed Air Component Commanders to intensify precision air operations with more decisive firepower against insurgents, terrorists, and criminal elements threatening Nigeria’s security.

Air Marshal Aneke issued the directive during a high-level strategic meeting with commanders from all operational theatres in Abuja.

According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Force chief stressed that future operations must be characterised by agility, precision, and intelligence-driven warfare.

“Every mission must reflect professionalism, purpose, and patriotism,” Air Marshal Aneke told the commanders.

The CAS assured personnel of his commitment to their welfare, capacity development, and operational effectiveness whilst outlining plans to prioritise innovation, technology, and training to enhance mission success.

Air Marshal Aneke reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s dedication to supporting the government’s vision of peace and security whilst maintaining international standards of conduct and accountability.

The meeting comes as Nigeria continues to battle multiple security challenges across different regions, with the Air Force playing a crucial role in supporting ground operations against insurgent groups and bandits.

The directive also comes amid accusations of genocide against Christians in Nigeria by the United States and threats of military strikes by USA President, Donald Trump against Nigeria over alleged persecution of Christians.

Theatre commanders were charged to deliver smarter and harder air strikes in their respective operational areas to decisively neutralise threats to national security.
