The senator representing Cross River North Senatorial Zone, Senator Jarigbe A. Jarigbe, has cautioned his supporters who address him as “Governor of the North.”
In a post he made on his Facebook account, sighted by PrimeTell, Jarigbe noted that his supporters from his Senatorial District have been addressing him as the Governor of the North, indirectly implying that he is in charge of governance in the zone. He expressed concern that his loyalty to the Cross River State Governor, Bassey Edet Otu, could be questioned if the narrative is allowed to continue.

“My attention has been drawn to certain narratives and titles being peddled in the media and public discourse, wherein I am being referred to as “Governor of the North.” While I appreciate the enthusiasm and goodwill of my supporters across the Cross River North Senatorial District, I must state firmly and unequivocally that I reject being addressed in borrowed robes.
There can only be one Governor in a State, and Cross River State is no exception. His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, is the constitutionally elected and recognized leader of our dear state. I remain absolutely loyal to him, his office, and the agenda of his administration. Any attempt to equate my role as Senator to that of a Governor is not only inaccurate but also misleading.”, he said.

Jarigbe enjoined his supporters to direct their loyalties to the state governor who is the “number one citizen of the state.” He cautioned those who are trying to represent the goodwill of his supporters to desist.
“To those who are attempting to blow certain misdemeanors out of proportion for political gain, I urge you to stop sowing seeds of discord. Leadership is not about rivalry or division, but about service and unity. At this time, we must close ranks and move forward as one people, with one purpose.”, the senator cautioned
